Although every town board and committee requested that MA Housing deny project eligibility for this proposal last fall, a Project Eligibility Letter was granted by that state funding agency. The proposal is now before the Acton Zoning Board. We invite you to join us in demanding that this Comprehensive Permit application be denied.
The proposed project PUTS LIVES AT RISK by failing to provide adequate sight lines for drivers exiting onto School Street. The proposed drive is located on a steep hill near a sharp curve from both directions.
The proposed project’s SINGLE EGRESS is too close to an intersection of two collector streets, Piper Road and School Street. Vehicles, pedestrians, pets, and cyclists will all be in harm’s way.
The proposed project ruins the integrity of the contiguous SOUTH ACTON HISTORIC DISTRICT. The 3 story townhomes, situated on a ridge 40 feet above School Street, would loom over the modest 1-2 story homes in the District. The proposed project diminishes the value of the GREAT HILL CONSERVATION AND RECREATION AREA for both humans and wildlife. The Great Hill Conservation and Recreation Area represents 5 decades of taxpayer investment to purchase and protect the land.
